Non-intrusive sensors that ‘look’ through the engine case to detect blades passing
Monitoring of blades allows continuous indication of:
Shaft speed
Change in separation between blades and the time between blades – tip timing
Peak amplitude of each blade passing - tip clearance
Missing pulses or sudden change in timing or signal amplitude – blade damage
