Start making your dream of flight come true!

The Private Pilot program is the initial step to realizing your dream of flying. To be a private pilot, the FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight time. You must be at least 17 years old and able to read, speak, write and understand English.

You will need at least a Third Class Medical Certificate. This is a medical exam given by an FAA Authorized Medical Examiner. We recommend that you acquire the medical certificate in the beginning of training as this will tell you if you have any limitations for flying.

You are required to pass an FAA Knowledge Written Test with a minimum score of 70%. There are several ways to prepare for the test. You can study on your own, attend ground school courses or do a one-on-one tutoring with a flight instructor. Your flight instructor can recommend the best way for you to achieve the desired result.

When you have completed the required flight experience and knowledge to acquire your license, you need to pass the Practical Test. It consists of an oral and a flight portion. An FAA designated examiner will conduct the test evaluating your knowledge and skill as a pilot.

Training will consist of ground lessons (preflight and post flight briefings) and in-flight instructions. You will be given topics to study in advance to prepare for the lesson. A syllabus is used to ensure a complete and steady progress in the training.

The national average to get a private pilot license is above 60 hours. Some students will require more or less time to complete the program. We estimate the cost to be from $7,000 to $8,000. We strongly recommend that lessons be scheduled at a consistent pace as this greatly affects your learning development.
