The Sport Pilot Certificate is one of the newest pilot licenses from the FAA. This license offers many great advantages over traditional pilot licenses including no required medical and lesser training requirements. With a Sport Pilot Certificate you will be able to pilot light-sport category aircraft while carrying a passenger. The Sport Pilot Certificate is great for getting into aviation without the burden of a medical or the added training costs!
Eligibility Requirements
Be at least 17 years of age
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
Hold a current and valid U.S. Driver License or FAA Third Class Medical
Pass an FAA Knowledge Test (Written)
Pass an FAA Practical Test (Oral and Flight)
Aeronautical Experience
FAA required 20 hours total time
Must Include:
Minimum 15 hours instruction
2 hours cross-country training
10 takeoffs and 10 landings
3 hours of checkride prep
Minimum 5 hours solo
1 solo cross-country of at least 75NM with two landings
