Hold a private pilot, sport pilot certificate, or recreational pilot license.

You must log a minimum of 250 hours of flight time as a pilot. Which must include at least:

100 hours in powered aircraft including:

50 hrs. in airplanes

100 hours of pilot in command flight time including at least:

50 hrs. in airplanes

50 hrs. in cross-country flight including at least:

10 hours in airplanes

20  hours of  flight training including at least:

10 hrs. of instrument training using a view-limiting device.

5 hours must be in a single-engine airplane

10 hrs. of training in an airplane that has retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch propellor, or is turbine powered

One 2 hr. daytime cross country flight in a single-engine airplane

total straight-line distance of more than 100 nautical  miles

One 2 hr. nighttime cross country flight in a single-engine airplane

total straight-line distance of more than 100 nautical  miles

3 hrs. of instruction with an authorized instructor in a single-engine airplane within 60 days prior to your practical test

10 hours of solo flight or 10 hours of flight time performing the duties of pilot in command in a single-engine airplane with an authorized instructor on board that include:

One cross-country flight of at least 300 nautical miles

Landings at a minimum of 3 points

One of which is a straight-line distance of at least 250 nautical miles

5 hours night VFR conditions

10 takeoffs and 10 landings involving flight in a traffic pattern at an airport

The most convenient way to get your flight time is enroll in flight school or join a flying club.
