Helicopter Express was honored to have been a major participant in the recovery efforts of the Space Shuttle Columbia. An investigation into the cause of the disaster began almost immediately, and Helicopter Express worked with NASA and FEMA to search over a debris field that was 2.28 million acres in an effort to collect as much of the debris as possible.
We were the lead helicopter operator in FEMA’s recovery efforts in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina made landfall in August 2005. Helicopter Express fielded the first aircraft as soon as weather permitted and continued to support the people of Mississippi and Louisiana well into 2006. As part of our efforts, we had 13+ helicopters delivering meals, flying surveys with government officials, conducting search and rescue missions, and numerous other tasks as the unique requirements arose.
We have also assisted FEMA and various power companies after hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters that have disrupted the lives of citizens throughout the country.
