Our Sport Pilot Training program represents a new, safe, fun, and affordable way to fly. Sport Pilots are limited by regulation to flying only Light Sport category aircraft (LSA).  The license allows those interested in flight to obtain their rating in half the time and for half the cost of a traditional Private Pilot certificate.

Accelerated Programs

Perhaps you don’t want to wait months or years, or maybe you are from another country or state wher weather, flight costs, and availability make it difficult and expensive to get your license in a timely manner.  If this sounds like your situation, then our all-inclusive immersion training, accelerated pilot program is for you. The military has been using immersion training for years with great success. Come to sunny Florida wher the weather is almost always flyable. Fly 2-to-3 hours per day with a dedicated instructor. Stay at one of the many local hotels, and leave with your license — ready to fly!

Becoming a Sport Pilot

(Requirements, Application)

First Landings Aviation is your home for Sport Pilot Training. If you’re in the market for something affordable, achievable, and fun – then the Sport Pilot program is for you. The Sport Pilot license represents a new way to fly that is safe and entertaining. The Sport Pilot license allows those interested in flight to obtain their rating in half the time and for half the cost of the traditional Private Pilot certificate.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum age of 17 years old.

Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language.

Be Medically Eligible. (US Driver’s License or FAA Medical)

Have a birth certificate or passport and a photo ID.

Pass a written, oral, and flight test.

FLIGHT REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 20 hours of flight time is required by the FAA to be eligible for your sport pilot certificate. Within those 20 hours there must be:

Minimum of 15 hours of dual flight instruction which will include:

2 hours of cross country flight time.

At least 10 take offs and landings.

Minimum of 5 hours of solo flight which will include:

1 solo cross country flight.

Sport Pilot Training Time and Cost

Sport Pilot instruction and proficiency vary in training time and cost depending on airplane programs, accelerated training programs, and whether or not you are a U.S. citizen.  Expect to spend between $3750 and $4500 to get a license.
