Details

For most people, the next step after your Private Pilot Certificate, is your Instrument Rating. Instrument Rating makes flying less restrictive, especially on those foggy mornings.  When you operate under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) you can fly in the clouds without reference to the ground or horizon.  The Instrument Pilot Program at AFI Flight Training Center not only gives you the ability to fly in and out of clouds, but makes you a safer, more confident, and efficient pilot.

Requirements

- Be at least 17 years of age

- Hold a Private Pilot Certificate

- Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language

- Obtain at least a current third-class medical certificate

- Have logged at least 35 hours of Actual or Simulated IFR instruction and the required training for the Instrument rating per FAA regulations

- Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test
