Why study at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno UT
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is a modern and practice-oriented educational and research institution that provides its students with a high quality education and every prospect of finding a job on labour market.
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) is the second largest faculty of the Brno University of Technology with almost 4500 students and 15 specialized institutes. It offers education in the branches of mechanical engineering and in applied sciences.
Faculty graduates have no difficulties in finding a job. The faculty in no way educates the unemployed. (60% of graduates have found a job during their studies, other 33% of graduates will find it in the following three months.)
In the annual survey of quality of universities organized by Hospodářské noviny journal, the faculty occupies the leading place among engineering faculties. (The first position occupied in 2013, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008.)
FME has been evaluated as the 10th best-performance research institution in the Czech Republic according to the analysis of the Research, Development and Innovation Council, an advisory body to the Government of the Czech Republic.
FME closely cooperates with other BUT faculties, as well as faculties of Masaryk University in Brno. It has also established a long-term partnership with educational institutions abroad.
The faculty offers students various forms of studies at partner foreign universities. E.g. with seleced master degree programmes it is possible to obtain not only a BUT diploma but also a diploma of a foreign university. These are the so called studies with a double diploma. One part of studies takes place at FME, the other at the foreign university.
The faculty has modern and well-equipped laboratories available for teaching, research and development activities. At the moment a significant modernisation of faculty workplaces is under way thanks to financial means gained fro the project Netme Center.
Studies are closely connected to practice. A close cooperation with industrial partners belongs to the faculty priorities. During studies students participate in solving real life problems from partner companies. Experts from practice cooperate in creation of bachelor and master theses.
Students can participate in very interesting student competitions and projects – e.g. design and construction of a student formula with an alternative drive.
Students have the possibility to use modern university sport fields and enjoy other advantages of a student life that are offered by the town of students – Brno.
