Freeway Aviation Training Center's course is designed to meet all the FAA requirements for a private pilot certificate. The syllabus has 35 hours of flight training, consisting of 20 hours of dual instruction and 15 hours of solo flight. During this flight instruction, the student will receive the required training for solo flight, cross-country flights, controlled fields, night flights, and all specified maneuvers. Progress checks will be conducted throughout the training process. The flight training will take approximately four to six months to complete, if you schedule flight lessons 3 times a week.

The ground school syllabus includes 35 hours of classroom training, with 2 hours for quizzes and the final examination. The course covers an introduction to the airplane and aerodynamics, aircraft systems, airports, communications and Air Traffic Control, weight & balance, meteorology, Federal Aviation Regulations, aeronautical charts, radio navigation, flight publications, the flight computer, medical factors of flight and cross country flight. Upon graduation from ground school, the student will be prepared for the FAA written examination. The ground school/classroom training will be seven weeks to complete and will prepare you to take and pass the FAA written exam that is required.

Private Pilot Solo Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age

Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language

Hold at least a third class medical and Student Pilot certificate

Private Pilot Graduation Requirements

Be at least 17 years of age

Hold at least a third class medical and Student Pilot certificate

Demonstrate through written tests, flight tests, and appropriate records that he has the knowledge, skill and experience to exercise the privileges of a private pilot safely
