Cessna 162 Skycatcher

The Skycatcher is Harford Air’s light sport airplane and is also Cessna’s last piston single design. This aircraft was designed specifically as a training aircraft to train people for their recreational, sport, and private pilot’s licenses. The sport pilots license was created in September of 2004 with the intent of making flying more accessible and affordable. The requirements for a sport pilots license are different from the private pilots license with every effort to make it an easier, cheaper alternative. You can read about the sport pilot requirements below.

Checkout Requirements: Sport Pilot Certificate or better, checkout flight with instructor, NO MEDICAL REQUIRED!!!

Cessna 172 Skyhawk

The Skyhawk is a more powerful upgrade to the older “M” models. This plane has an upgraded Lycoming IO-360-L2A (fuel injected) engine that puts out 180 HP. A litte more ‘peppy’ than your standard grandpa’s Skyhawk. As a result, the maximum gross weight was increased to 2,550 lbs and there is a bit more room inside too.

Our two Skyhawk SP are an ideal IFR training aircraft and has dual NAV/COMs, a moving map GPS, digital Mode C Transponder, and the all important leather seats. Whether you’re taking friends up for a ride or practicing an ILS approach, this airplane is a strong performer.

Skyhawk N419SP has a Garmin 530, Mode S transponder, and traffic and weather!

Skyhawk N647SP has a King KLN89b moving map GPS.

Bellanca Citabria

Are you ready for a new challenge?! Learn to fly a tailwheel airplane. Unlike the Cessnas, the Citabria (airbatic spelled backwards) is a lightweight, two seat (tandem), just for the fun airplane. This conventional gear airplane tends to be a lot more demanding of pilots and you will soon learn what those rudder pedals are realy for when you hop into this plane. This is because the plane’s center of gravity is behind the main wheels and, particularly on landing, inertia wants to keep the GC moving forward. If not flown properly, it can give you a surprise. In the winter, we have a ton of fun in this airplane and replac the wheels with skis to fly off the snow! If you are ready to add a new level of excitement to your flying, this is the plane for you.

Checkout Requirements: Tailwheel Endorsement and 10hrs in type

Piper Arrow III

The Arrow is Harford’s complex training aircraft used primarily for IFR training. This low wing airplane cruises a little faster than the Cessnas and is a terrific platform for long cross country trips or preparing for your instrument rating or commercial license. This plane is powered by a Lycoming IO-360 engine putting out 200 HP.

Checkout Requirements: 125hrs PIC time, Complex Endorsement, 10hrs in Complex Airplanes
