INSTRUMENT RATING COURSE

Hub City Aviation provides Instrument Rating Training in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Federal regulations mandate the following eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Requirements

17 years of age

Must read, write, and speak English

Hold at least a current private pilot certificate

Complete 50 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) cross-country time

Obtain an FAA medical certificate

Pass the FAA Instrument Rating Knowledge Test

Pass the FAA Instrument Rating Practical Flight Test

The Course

Hub City Aviation's Instrument Rating Course is broken into three phases. The first phase is learning how to control the aircraft with reference only to the flight instruments. Phase two consists of holding patterns and instrument approaches, including circling and missed approach procedures. The last phase involves learning cross-country procedures for the instrument environment. During phase three, the student pilot will apply the knowledge attained in phase one and two. once these steps are completed, the student will be issued an Instrument Rating, which will allow him/her to fly when weather is less than ideal.
