The Plusnut,® is around body, internally threaded, blind fastener with slotted shanks. It performs as a rivet to fasten two or more materials together. It performs as a nut for the attached of a mating part with a screw. The slotted shanks split and form large flaps on the backside of the parent material which distribute installation and working loads over a wide area. The Plusnut® is also offered in a Pre-Bulbed version wher the shank is partially upset, to facilitate installation with torque, controlled hand or power tools. The large footprint works particularly well in softer materials. The Plusnut® was designed for rigid fastening in thin sheet metal, fiberglass and plastic.
Typical application can be found in the automotive, recreational vehicle, boating, electronics and appliance industries. Plusnuts are available in aluminum, steel or stainless steel. Unified thread sizes of 10-32, 10-24, 1/4-20, 5/16-18 and 3/8-16 are offered. Metric thread sizes of M5, M6, M8 and M10 are also available. The Plusnut® installs in a wide variety of grip range, tolerances from 0.020 to 0.500 inches and from 0.50 to 12.70 millimeters
