LIGHT SPORT PILOT

With new regulations, exciting changes came about for would-be pilots who just wanted to fly for fun and didn’t want to spend the money to get a Private Pilots license. The basic requirements are that you must be 17 years old, hold a valid drivers license in place of a 3rd class medical (no medical required), complete a minimum of 20 hours of flight time in which 5 hours will be solo time, and pass the FAA Knowledge and Practical tests. All Sport Pilot training can be counted towards a Private License if you want to upgrade your license at a later date. Instruction will be in a Rans S-7LS Courier tailwheel airplane, so along with your Sport Pilots License you will also receive your tailwheel endorsement.

PRIVATE PILOT COURSE

The total costs to get a Private Pilot certificate will vary with the individual as certain standards must be met regardless of the individual’s ability and the time it takes. With our FAA Approved Flight School, we are allowed to graduate a student in as little as 35 hours flying time. If you were able to complete the course in that time, the cost would only be about $4,000.00. HOWEVER …the FAA requires us to teach you a lot more today than it did when that 35 hours MINIMUM time was established and it takes us longer that 35 hours to train you to meet those requirements. The national average now is about 60 – 70 hours, but with recent changes in the regulations, we think 45 hours is realistic and the following figures are based on 45 hours flying time.
