PW4000 Growth

With a thrust in the range between 84,000 and 98,000 lbf the PW4000 Growth counts among the world’s most powerful engines. It powers the Boeing 777-200/-300 and was the first engine with full 180-minute extended-range twin-engine operations (ETOPS) authority from the very beginning. The engine first flew in November 1993 and went into revenue service in 1995.

Meanwhile, there are two versions of the PW4000 Growth engine: the PW4084 and the PW4090. For both versions, MTU developed the seven-stage low-pressure turbine, for which it also manufactures a major part of the components.
