Murphy & Read Spring Mfg. Co., Inc.
Murphy and Read Manufacturing Co. was established in 1917 by Alexander Murphy and John Read in Philadelphia. Started as a small service company specializing in locks, keys, and springs, Murphy and Read started to concentrate on manufacturing springs when Read's son-in-law Charles Seemuller took over the business. After World War II, Charles' son John made the first serious investments into modern manufacturing equipment.
