Whanganui Airport

We are a provincial based Flight Training School with significant experience in training pilots at a range of levels.  From private to commercial through to flight instructors, multi engine pilots with full instrument ratings, to pilots preparing for careers with the airlines.

We pride ourselves on our record in the training of both New Zealand and International students and our commitment to maintaining a broad cultural base.  Our instructors are truly international and all are highly experienced and committed to safety and the success of theory students.

Being provincially based helps us to keep our costs down and helps you to do the same with such things as accommodation, food and general living costs.

What drives us
By its nature, the Aviation Industry (in particular the Airline Industry) requires Pilots who not only possess good practical skills and knowledge, but who can relate well to people and fit into a team environment in the real world.  The aim of all Commercial Pilot Academy courses and training schemes therefore is to produce pilots that not only possess quality flying skills and qualifications but also demonstrate even handedness in dealing with other people and an ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment.

Teaching and Learning
Commercial Pilot Academy recognises the needs of students and the need for the company to:

Provide effective supervision and instruction as part of a classroom and workplace environment including instruction on health and safety practices
Ensure students develop independent thinking and problem solving abilities
Ensure we motivate students and recognize potential to encourage further study
Your success is our success.

Training Methods
All programmes will be delivered with a combination of methods, including:

Class room based – covering theory aspects
Self-directed study and learning
Workshop based practical sessions
Practical flying alongside appropriately qualified, experienced and knowledgeable staff
Simulator training
Maintenance of Student records – available for instructors and students to review/revise
Any student requiring further tuition, both theory and practical, will be offered extra one on one tuition/training in consultation with the Training Manager (there may be an additional charge for this tuition).

Safety - Our Cornerstone
Safety in aviation is paramount and within our organisation we take safety extremely seriously.  The company has an operative Safety Management System which includes Health and Safety policies, compliant operations manuals to govern our training and air operations activities and a fully integrated aircraft and simulator maintenance system.

All of our staff and contractors are appropriately qualified and licenced to do the work they do and all activities are overviewed by the CEO with the assistance of a Management Committee - safety being top of the priority list.
