The Private Pilot Program is intended for people who may be learning to fly as a hobby, personal business or who are planning to purchase their own aircraft. With your Private Pilot Certificate you are allowed to take family, friends and co-workers on board your aircraft or the aircraft you are renting while acting as Pilot in Command. The only restriction to acting as a Private Pilot is you are not allowed by the FAA to be compensated for your skills. You must carry a Commercial Rating for compensation for hire.
This course is a 141 approved course with examining authority available to recreational or student pilots. In some cases previous knowledge and experience can be credited toward the course curriculum requirements per FAR 141.77 (c). Students who wish to train under FAR part 61 can be provided a custom quote for a program based on their previous knowledge and experience. You may begin training at any age however in order to solo you must be 16 years of age and in order to obtain your Private Certificate you must be 17 years of age. You must also be able to read, speak, and understand the English Language.
The steps in obtaining your Private Pilot Certificate are as follows:
Pass a written test given by the FAA.
Take a physical from an FAA certified examiner receiving a 1st Class, 2nd Class or 3rd Class Medical License. To receive your Private Pilot Certificate, you are required to have a 3rd Class Medical.
Obtain a Student Pilot Certificate
Pass an oral and flight test given by the Chief Instructor.
Our approved course to obtain a Private Pilot’s License under FAR 141 are as follows:
35.0 minimum of flight time, which includes 30 hours of flight instruction.
3 hours of Cross Country training
3 hours of night flying
5.0 hours of solo flight time
3 hours training in preparation for the flight test an FAA Examiner.
10 take off and landings at night.
36 hours minimum of Ground Training
**NOTE: These costs are based on FAA MINIMUM time required. The national average is approximately 55 hours of flight time for an initial private certificate. Our company average is 47 hours. You should budget an extra $4000.00 above the minimum requirements.
