R44-Training Helicopter
Students in Embry-Riddle Prescott’s commercial helicopter program will do their advanced training in the world’s most popular and highly produced four-place, piston-powered helicopter — the Robinson R44 Raven.
As with our Robinson R22 helicopter, the R44 fleet is operated by Universal Helicopters. The R44 not only allows students to conduct their flight training in a larger, more powerful helicopter, it provides the foundation for our instrument helicopter course. The R44 is also the helicopter we use for other specialized training programs, including Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations.
Powered by a reliable Lycoming fuel-injected engine, the R44 has not only become the world's leading piston helicopter for training, it is also becoming the helicopter of choice for corporate, law enforcement, electronic newsgathering, and other commercial operations.
