SEConDO MONA aims at further consolidating its position as 1st or 2nd Tier Supplier of Fuel Systems and Equipment, Electromechanical and Hydraulic Actuators and Landing Gear Equipment to OEM Aerospace Manufactures both in the military and civil market.
History
1903 A very young and gifted technician Mr. Secondo Mona opens a shop for the sale & repair of bicycles and motorcycles in his home town, Somma Lombardo.
1913 Attracted by the rising adventure of modern aviation, he follows on with a small factory for the repair & overhaul of aero-engines installed on the first aircraft flying since 1910 from the nearby fields of Malpensa.
1923 The company SEConDO MONA has gained enough experience to obtain the quality certification A.M. (Albert Moulet) for the design & production of on-board fuel equipment and will give important contributions to the famous long-distance flights and records established during those years.
1931 Dipl. Ing. Bruno Mona, the son of Secondo, joins the company after graduating in Aeronautical Engineering at the Polytechnic in Zürich, Switzerland, and starts European co-operations within the Aeronautical community of that time.
1942 SEConDO MONA reaches its maximum production capacity during the Second World War with over 1000 people employed.
1950 The Italian Aerospace Industry is again allowed to design and manufacture aircraft (Fiat G91 and Macchi MB326 are two significant programs) and SEConDO MONA readily undertakes to support it, renewing its capabilities in the equipment field.
1960 The launch of the F104G Starfighter program leads SEConDO MONA to establish co-operations with U.S. companies and to acquire production licences and agencies.
1970 In the meantime, both Dr. Roberto and Dr. Renato Mona, sons of Bruno, have entered the company and work for the development of important contributions to the newly born Tornado MRCA European multinational program and to several helicopters.
1980 In parallel to Aerospace production, the company starts to develop also applications for Land and Naval programs.
1990 SEConDO MONA is ready to meet the challenge of supporting new European multinational programs such as the EF2000 Eurofighter and the NH90 helicopter and to acquire new technologies in hydraulics and electro-mechanics. Also new aerospace markets, such as India, are entered during these years.
2000 Dr. Riccardo and Dr. Claudia Mona, sons of Renato, enter as the fourth generation in the family business and SEConDO MONA is ready to make the step from equipment to system supplier with contract award for the complete fuel system design responsibility and relevant iron bird for the new Aermacchi jet trainer M346.
2003 In the year of the Centennial of flight SEConDO MONA celebrates its 100 years of activity with 90 years in support to the Aerospace industry.
2006 An external co-management in the person of Sergio Bogni and continuous investment in people, organization and technologies bring further growth to the company and new market opportunities are exploited in the area of landing gear equipment, particularly for civil aircraft, as is the contract for supplies on the B787 Dreamliner and on Bombardier regional aircraft.
2010 SEConDO MONA, a founding member of the newly born Lombardy Aerospace Cluster, is ready to take on the challenge of the next decade with a good backlog also of new Customers and projects in development.
SEConDO MONA is among the oldest members of the Italian Manufacturers unio (Confindustria) and has received a special award during their Centennial in May 2010. It is an active member of the Manufacturers unio of the Province of Varese (UNIVA).
SEConDO MONA is a historical member also of the Italian Industries Federation for Aerospace, Defense and Security (AIAD) and contributes through its participation in several working groups.
SEConDO MONA plays an active role also within the SME Group of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and leads the Simplified Technical English Maintenance Group.
Since 2008 SEConDO MONA has been directly involved, as a founding member, with the development and growth of the Lombardy Aerospace Cluster (Distretto Aerospaziale Lombardo) and actively participates both in the Council and in several working groups.
SEConDO MONA is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the newly opened Aeronautics Museum close to Milan Malpensa International Airport (Volandia). |
