The St. Johns Airport is also host to a number of special events throughout the year. Each Labor Day Weekend, the airport shuts down to become the grounds for the Indy car races. Summers and early fall are also home to the Family Circle community event, as well as the Experimental Aircraft Association's pancake breakfast, which runs concurrently with the Apache County Fair in mid September
