History/Mission

Michael Rapacz, a machinist and CNC machine programmer since the age of 15, started Pacific Contours with his wife Mary in 1997.  The company began in “Building 1” in Anaheim, California with one 5-axis CNC machine.  As business increased the company soon filled up building one and subsequently expanded to include “Building 2”, a 12,200 sq. ft. facility.  This gave Pacific Contours a total of more than 25,000 square feet of work space to machine a wide variety of precision parts for the aerospace industry.  Pacific Contours expanded from machining and manufacturing of complex parts to the assembly of the parts into components and assemblies ready for factory installation.  The Boeing corporation chose Pacific Contours to participate in their Mentor/Protégé program in 2006.  In that same year, its Boeing quality performance rating was 100 percent and its delivery performance rating was 99.3 percent. Subsequently, Pacific Contours won the Boeing Silver Eagle Award based on outstanding performance as a Boeing Supplier.

Pacific Contours went on to win the Boeing Supplier of the year award in 2007.  This accomplishment is significant in that Pacific Contours was competing with over 27,000 other companies and was one of only eleven companies selected.  In 2008, Michael and Mary made a capital investment in purchasing Jaycraft Corporation in Spring Valley, California.  This 70,000 sq/ft facility is located approximately 15 miles east of San Diego and ideally located close to several metal processing and treating facilities, as well as major suppliers of forgings, castings and raw metal for production.  Jaycraft is a 45 year old industry leader in the machining of parts for a wide variety of products both within and outside the aerospace industry.  Jaycraft vastly broadened the capabilities of the corporation bringing precision grinding, lathe turning, gun drilling and additional capacity in the 3/4/5-axis machining operations.  The addition of the Jaycraft facility brought Pacific Contours to over 100,000 sq/ft of space for production and expansion.  In 2008, Pacific Contours also won the Department of Defense Nunn Perry Award for excellence based on outstanding past performance as well as future growth potential.  Michael and Mary continue to invest capital to remain at the forefront in technology in the aerospace manufacturing industry. The purchase in 2010 of the first of two HyperMach 5-Axis horizontal profilers to our San Diego facility is anticipated to add a significant increase in the company’s capacity for machining large aluminum bulkheads, formers, and aerospace structures.
