Your instructors have been at this business for a very long time and have vast amounts of knowledge to pass on to you. Ray, Greg and C.S. were all appointed by the Eclipse factory to serve as Mentor pilots, the factory essentially placing their ultimate trust in them as the final authority to sign off each pilot prior to solo in the jet. A job they have taken very seriously as is evidenced by the lack of any major accidents in the Eclipse jet after hundreds of thousands of fleet hours.
Higgins Aviation continues this tradition of in-airplane training because they believe it is superior to other types of training. They can literally do every maneuver in-airplane as can be done in a simulator (except freezing or backing up flights!) and it saves a pilot without a prior type rating 25 hours of supervised operating experience $$$.
