Vanguard has worked diligently to advance rotor-wing UAS technology. With aerospace patents on stabilization, design, and mounts, VDI is leading the market and progressing daily. In collaboration with acadamia, the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP) through NASA, Vanguard is leveraging the technical expertise derived from the US space program. Made up of an Alliance of more than 45 aerospace companies, universities, colleges, and NASA centers (Johnson Space Center Texas, Kennedy Space Center Florida, and White Sands Test Facility New Mexico), SATOP finds professionals within these companies who volunteer their time and expertise in solving the challenges brought forth by leading edge corporations such as Vanguard Defense Industries.
Vanguard has lead the way in the following sectors;
1. First Unmanned Aerial System aurthorized for purchase utiliuzing Department of Homeland Security Grants.
2. First Unmanned Aerial System used by a US law enforcement agency.
3. First Unmanned Aerial System deployed by an international oil & gas firm.
4. Vanguard's ShadowHawk was utilized in the largest international security operation to date.
5. Vanguard's ShadowHawk was the first law enforcement UAS to recieve a county wide Certificate of Waiver or Authorization (COA) from the Federal Aviation Administration.
6. Vanguard's ShadowHawk was the first US built Unmanned Aerial System to recieve the Special Flight Operating Certificate (SFOC) from Transport Canada.
7. The ShadowHawk was the first Group II UAS to recieve the 333 Exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration to operate commercially in the United States.
