Okay Airways has filed an application to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, seeking rights to further expand its network to Japan from January 2017.

Pending government approval, the Tianjin-based carrier will operate a once-weekly Changsha- Hakodate route and a twice-weekly Changsha-Okinawa route, according to an announcement released Friday on the CAAC's official website.

The Tianjin-based carrier also plans to launch twice-weekly flights between Tianjin and Aomori.

All services will be operated using Boeing 737-800s, the CAAC said.

Okay Airways will be the only operator on all three routes.

The Air Transportation Department of CAAC is soliciting public comments on the application until 5:00 p.m. on November 18, 2016.
