Baldwin County Becomes First-Time HEMS Base with Bell 407GXP

Baldwin County, Alabama, is set to be home base for an air ambulance helicopter for the first time, said Med-Trans Corp. The company plans to base its Bell Helicopter 407GXP at the Stapleton Fire Station to service surrounding areas and nearby coastal communities.

Southern Baldwin County-based Medstar EMS — a Lifeguard Ambulance Service/Air Medical Group Holdings Inc. operation — is to provide paramedics, while Med-Trans would provide the aircraft, pilots and nurses. based in Dallas, Texas, Med-Trans has almost 90 bases around the U.S.

The Bell 407GXP has a bi-fold litter door and is powered by a Rolls-Royce M250-C47B/8 engine. It is a multi-role helicopter with the ability to seat six passengers.
