Redundant Aircraft Avionics

Larger UAS often require the comfort and increased safety of redundant on-board systems. Adding redundant power supplies and servos is easy – until now the difficulty has been in adding redundancy in the command-and-control systems.

SkyCircuits has developed an integrated redundancy system building on the proven SC2 architecture that delivers full autopilot functionality in the event of a failure of a single system. From the outset, design goals have included the ability to provide physical separation of hardware, should this be necessary, therefore the SC2R can be specified in a number of forms to minimise the number of single point failures. The SC2R also allows the user to install 2 Receivers, with up to 12 channels for each receiver, to provide seamless redundancy. This increase in inherent safety can make regulatory approval significantly easier, in particular for larger UAS.
