The newest piece of technology for police is taking to the skies more and more each day. The Aeryon SkyRanger is used by OPP (ontario Provincial Police) to assist with daily tasks ranging from rescue operations, traffic reconstruction and evidence collecting. The OPP invited CTV London to a demonstration of the UAV to show how the technology is being implemented daily.
Recently, OPP used an Aeryon SkyRanger to find a man with dementia stranded in a corn field. Instead of the mission taking hours on end, it ended within a few short hours. You’ll also be able to find the SkyRanger at work whenever a highway is closed due to an accident. In some cases OPP can have the highway reopened in less than an hour as opposed to 6 or 7 hours, thanks to the UAV.
