Unmanned Experts, a Colorado corporation providing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) managed services, consultancy and training was recently called upon to perform a drone inspection of the almost 120 year old Ottawa Lift Bridge over the Illinois River in Chicago.
Using the Aeryon SkyRanger™ for the mapping portion of the bridge and surrounding area during the 2-day operation, Unmanned Experts utilized the very best in cutting edge technologies in order to ensure an accurate and precise photographic evidence of the bridge’s current state.
Dave Prall, Vice President of Special Projects at Unmanned Experts, says “Each flight generates huge amount of useful data. The bridge owners and their inspection partners are now using the inspection images to evaluate the integrity of trusses and joints and determine what, if any, maintenance or repairs are needed to extend the century-old bridge’s utility.”
