The Commercial Pilot Certificate is required for individuals who want to fly for compensation or hire.  It is the first step to becoming a professional pilot.

Eligibility Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age

Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language

Hold at least an FAA Private Pilot Certificate

Obtain at least an FAA Second Class Medical Certificate

Pass an FAA Knowledge Test (Written)

Pass an FAA Practical Test (Oral and Flight)

Aeronautical Experience

FAA required 250 hours total time

Must Include:

Minimum 100 hours powered aircraft (50 airplanes)

Minimum 100 hours PIC time (50 airplanes)

Minimum 50 hours PIC cross-country

Minimum 20 hours instruction

10 hours complex airplane training

10 hours instrument training

One 2-hour dual cross-country

One 2-hour dual night cross-country

3 hours checkride prep

Minimum 10 hours solo

1 cross-country at least 300NM with three landings

5 hours night (10 takeoff and landings)
