Instrument Rating Overview

Cost - $6,580.00

Required flight time - 35 hours

Generally speaking, for most pilots the instrument certificate is the next step in aviation training.  While most people think that an instrument rating simply allows you to fly in the clouds, the truth is the instrument rating will make you a much safer, proficient and complete pilot.  Whether your goal is to fly for hire or simple recreational use, the instrument rating is a self-investment you will truly appreciate. Pilots who hold an instrument rating are able to fly in less than favorable atmospheric conditions as well as file IFR flight plans.             Basic training for IFR students includes holding patterns, precision approaches and GPS/VOR navigation.   The basic structure for instrument training is very similar to that of the private pilot license, you are required to receive flight training from a certified instrument flight instructor, take an FAA written exam as well as an FAA check ride.
