With a background in television & video production, still photography and survey work for the Oil & Gas industry offshore, we are experienced with working for production companies and to deadlines.
Our Remotely Piloted Aircraft - or drones if you prefer - are flown by professional, qualified pilots with a certificate of competency from recognised NQE training establishments. In addition and in line with current UK regulations, our pilots are licensed for commercial operations by the Civil Aviation Authority, so you can be assured that any work undertaken by Aerial Image Services will be carried out by skilled, trained and competent personnel.
We have the requisite insurance in place, including public liabilities, and each project will be subject to a full risk assessment prior to commencement. once on location, safety notices, take-off & landing area markers and, wher required, bollards and barriers will be erected to ensure that full awareness of the activities are maintained. Fire fighting equipment and first aid kits will also be present on site. In certain cases it may be prudent for the client to provide observers to advise the public and help the crew with security/safety.
Our lead pilot also has a night rating, meaning filming can continue into the ‘Golden Hour’ after the sun has dropped below the horizon, or before it rises in the morning. Supplementary lighting is provided in these instances.

The aircraft we operate are all multirotors - that is, they have more than one propeller creating the required power, allowing the unit to hover over a set point or move through the air as a normal aircraft. The S900 is a hexacopter, with 6 motors. If one motor/propeller fails, the aircraft can still fly using the remaining 5. However, this is a very rare event and has never happened to one of our aircraft. The Phantom 4 is a quadcopter - 4 motors in a compact airframe. Each aircraft has a sophisticated gimbal to ensure that the camera is stable in all but the most extreme manoeuvres.
