Introduction
The Brazilian Aerospace Cluster includes more than 100 companies, located in different parts of the country. However, it all started in the city of São José dos Campos, which is a historic hub and a reference in the development of the Brazilian aerospace industry.

Except for some on-off initiatives, it can be said that the modern Brazilian aerospace industry was born in the city of São José dos Campos, in the State of São Paulo, which is the Federative Unit that has stood out in terms of industrial production and which is also home to the most important Brazilian Universities.

The origin of the Brazilian aerospace sector can be traced back to 1945, with the establishment of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA). In turn, in 1950 the DCTA established the Aeronautical Technology Institute (ITA), which would become one of the country’s leading schools of engineering.

The DCTA also generated the two most important spin-offs within the Brazilian aerospace industry: Embraer in 1969 and the National Space Research Institute – INPE in 1971.

Embraer is now the third largest manufacturer of aircraft in the world, and its growth has led to the creation, in Brazil, of an aeronautical supply chain with high capacity and quality. Other international companies within the segment, such as Helibrás and Avibrás, have also been a strong impulse for this chain.

The INPE and also the DCTA, in turn, are the locomotive that pulls along the space industry. São José dos Campos is home to nearly all of the Brazilian space industry. The creation of Visiona Espacial, which is a joint-venture between Embraer and government telecommunications giant Telebrás, has already brought new prospects to this industrial segment.

The Brazilian Aerospace Cluster works so that each member company will not only be qualified to compete on the global market, but also to present itself to prospective clients from all parts of the world.
