about US
The aviation program at EMU strives to provide a well-rounded program of study in the major areas of the aviation industry. As the industry continues to grow, so does the demand for aviation professionals.
Our programs focus on providing exceptional flight training for pilots, business skills in management, and expanding the individual’s knowledge with our dispatch certification curriculum. Our purpose is to offer students quality programs, technologically sophisticated aircraft, knowledgeable faculty, and professional flight instructors.
THE EASTERN DIFFERENCE
Location
Located in the heart of Michigan's aviation industry, Eastern Michigan University is next door to the major aviation hubs at Detroit Metro Airport and the Willow Run Airport. This proximity allows Flight and Management students to jump-start their careers and seek industry employment while still attending school. Students also have greater access to airlines, corporate operations, and cargo flight companies after graduation.
State-of-the-Art Equipment
EMU flight training is conducted at the Eagle Flight Centre. Located on the historic Willow Run Airport, the Eagle Flight Centre is just a ten-minute drive from EMU’s main campus. Our fleet is comprised of several new Cessna 172SP Skyhawks, two complex Cessna 172RGs, and a multi-engine Piper Seminole. The Cessna Skyhawk aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art, Garmin G1000 glass cockpit avionics.
You will sharpen your skills on an advanced FRASCA Mentor simulator, reducing the cost of flight training and allowing you to learn emergency situations and system logic in a safe and reliable environment.
Venture Learning Program
An added benefit to studying aviation at EMU is that you may expand your horizons and rent the Eagle Flight Centre’s aircraft outside of class. You may also participate in our “Venture Learning Program.” These cross-country flight training trips will take you to Venice, Florida; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and beyond. You will gain valuable experience flying extended routes, into different airfields, through varying flight conditions.
Pathway Programs
Because of our Pathway Agreements with major regional and charter carriers, we have a 98% placement rate for all graduates since 2001.
Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps ROTC programs are available for students interested in military careers.
So many great reasons to choose EMU for your aviation education!
