Grand Aire is a classic example of the American Dream being realized. The company started in 1985 and like many small businesses, it was built on the dreams of an entrepreneur with the intelligence and determination to overcome all obstacles. Co-founder Tahir Cheema arrived in the United States eleven years earlier to attend the University of Alabama. That day in 1974, he had $40 in his pocket and his drive to succeed was as big as America itself.
Tahir achieved another goal during those early years of marriage to Katrina. While working for Ford Motor Company Research and Development as a design engineer with a BSME degree, he earned a private pilot's license. Tahir and Katrina soon purchased their first aircraft, a Piper Arrow, and within a few years of getting several advanced pilot licenses, Grand Aire Express, Inc., was formed. Tahir flew Grand Aire's first aircraft, a Piper Aztec, with freight for the "Big Three" automakers. His reputation for hard work grew along with the demand for his services. They were able to expand their operation by promising and fulfilling "30 minutes wheels up" a previously unheard of guarantee in the charter freight industry.
Present
We now are simply known as Grand Aire, Inc. But the commitment to customer service still remains and sets us apart from our competitors. It has also been the basis for steady growth throughout the years as thousands of logistics professionals have come to rely on Grand Aire to move their freight and passengers around the world. A skilled group of loyal employees at the Swanton, Ohio headquarters make it all happen every day. They are some of the most creative and experienced professionals in the business.
