Introduction
HISTORY

The company was initially established in 1990 through the association of four individuals (a father and his three sons). The former joinery workshop with an area of approx. 120m2, which is located in Popovice u Uherského Hradiště next to the family home of the company’s owners, provided sufficient space for the machinery and the manufacturing.

The first employee was recruited in 1992, while during the following year an additional three employees joined the team and by 1996 15 employees were working for the company.

In 1996, the company moved into a purchased, newly-built space located at the former Svazarm premises in Popovice u Uherského Hradiště with a total area of 500m2.

The company expanded these facilities by 300m2 in 1998 and again in 2000 by an additional 400m2 to constitute a total of 1,200m2. During the course of this period 41 employees had already worked for the company. The legal form of the company was established under the name KOVOKON Popovice s.r.o.

In mid-2003, KOVOKON Popovice s.r.o. purchased unfinished production facilities on the premises of Letecké závody Kunovice which covered an area of 6,000m2 and immediately started a total renovation. A new QI information system was also introduced.

In late 2003, a large part of the machinery was moved and also the company management, while production was commenced in the redesigned halls in Kunovice.

Since 2010, the company has been focusing on improving its management activities. Currently the company already holds all such necessary certifications as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO/TS 16949, OHSAS 18001 and AS 9100.

Between 2012 and 2014, modern measuring and control devices were introduced into the operation, such as the APPLIC robotic control for the Automotive industry together with VICI VISION and KEYENCE optical gauges. Also introduced was the MES PHARIS modular manufacturing information system.

Between 2013 and 2015, more extensive investments into the company took place in the form of the purchase of 46 new modern CNC machine tools. Rack stackers were also installed in the company’s warehouses, thereby increasing their storage capacity by up to 100% in comparison with the prior solution.
