Introduction

The Show Low Regional Airport was dedicated in 1946 as the result of a U.S. Forest Service Special Use Permit. Since its modest beginning from a dirt runway and small terminal, the Show Low Regional Airport has become the premier air transportation facility in the White Mountains.

Located one mile east of Show Low, the Airport boasts two runways with parallel and connecting taxiways, a modern 6,400-square-foot terminal building, short and long-term vehicle parking lots, and three aircraft parking ramps.

Runway 6-24 is 100 feet wide by 7,200 feet long. This runway has a weight-bearing capacity of 60,000 pounds for dual-wheel, main gear aircraft. Aircraft as large as Canadair Challengers and all series of Gulfstream and Lear jets can easily be accommodated.

Runway 3-21 is 3,920 feet long by 60 feet wide, with a weight-bearing capacity of 12,500 pounds. Equipped with runway edge reflectors, this runway is used frequently as the crosswind runway. This runway provides easy access to all parking ramps and is directly adjacent to the south general aviation ramp hangar area.

Opened in August 1999, the new terminal building provides a comfortable atmosphere for both commercial airline passengers and terminal tenants and customers. Businesses include Enterprise rental car company, and Arizona Express Airlines. Shundiin Services Company, supplying air and ground cargo transportation services, is located in the old terminal at the east end of the Airport.

Arizona Express Airlines is located in the center of the terminal building offering an on demand air service between Show Low and Phoenix call (928)532-1009 for details. Utilizing twin-engine pressurized aircraft, passengers can fly one-way between the two cities in a little under an hour versus a four-hour, 180-mile one-way driving trip. From Terminal 2 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Arizona Express passengers can connect to any of the major airlines operating from Sky Harbor including America West, American, United and Continental. Flights operating out of Phoenix connect to cities across the United States as well as to European and Far East destinations.

The Airport terminal is open from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Airport Linemen are on duty during these hours providing certified National Weather Service weather observations every two hours, Jet A and 100 low-lead AvGas aircraft fuel and aircraft oil. Other services include aircraft jump-starting, towing, ground power, engine pre-heating, and after-hours fuel, on request. Unicom advisories for weather conditions, altimeter settings, wind speed and direction, as well as aircraft traffic advisories are provided when duties allow.

A pilot briefing room, with Internet access for weather and flight plan filing, is available. Vending machines offer snacks and beverages. A conference room with TV and VCR, fax machine, and copier are also available for a small fee.

In addition, advertising opportunities are available for businesses wishing to promote their services. A large display area with an accompanying speed dial telephone can be used for custom-made advertisements and company brochures. Other advertising locations are also available throughout the terminal.
