The recognized leader in Citation Performance Enhancement Modifications had its modest beginnings in early 1983, in the south central Texas community of Uvalde. Its initial operations were concentrated as a Flight Operations and Aircraft Maintenance Center with a toe-hold in the modifications industry. The company prospered under the able direction of its President, Mark Huffstutler and within a few years had received FAA approval for a number of STC'd modifications applicable to seleced-engine and twin-engine aircraft.
In early 1986, Sierra negotiated for, and was successful in obtaining, the rights to produce the EAGLE and LonGWING modifications pertaining to certain models of Cessna Citation aircraft. Sierra also acquired the rights to the highly regarded Robertson R/STOL line of Performance and Safety Enhancement modifications. The scope of the Sierra product offering has been increased fro 5 products to more than 100 performance and safety improvement modifications and aircraft enhancement items approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under its supplemental Type Certificate (STC) authorization authority.
Concentrating more and more on the Citation Modification segment of its product line, Sierra Industries has grown and prospered under Mr. Huffstutler's forward looking management style and is now the largest world wide modification center specializing in this area. A dynamic long range planning program is in effect which analyzes market factors and other parameters in order to effectively channel the future evolution of the company. The forward planning policies employed by Sierra Industries has fostered continued growth from the date of its incorporation. Starting with 10 employees and 11,000 square feet of hangar and production facilities, Sierra has steadily increased its assets to its present position, with a highly capable emplyee staff of 75 and over 50,000 square feet of hangar and office space.
