New projects are coming for the Winchester Regional Airport now that they will be receiving a million dollar grant from the federal aviation administration.

The airport has been notified that they will be receiving about $1.6 million from the federal aviation administration to pay for a partial taxi-way on the north side of the runway. The money will also be used to relocate a gas main transmission line that runs through future developments. Executive director and airport manager, Renny Manuel says the money will only cover a leg of the project.

"It's always exciting to get a construction grant and to be able to move your capitol projects forward and this is part of our 20-year master plan that was adopted in 2005," said Manuel.

Manuel says that the addition to the airport will bring in more tourism and money into the Winchester area.
