A Delta flight out of Tucson International Airport that was headed to Atlanta has been delayed, after it hit a flock of birds on the runway.

The flight was just about to take off when the incident happened.

The plane returned to the terminal, and all passengers had to deplane.

The flight is now scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Delta released the following statement:

The crew of Delta flight 1345 from Tucson to Atlanta followed procedures and rejected the takeoff roll after encountering birds prior to departing the runway. The flight taxied back to the terminal without incident and customers deplaned normally.

Delta maintenance technicians are evaluating the aircraft.

In the meantime, another aircraft is being flown to Tucson to reaccommodate those inconvenienced customers.
