The Ninth Annual Fox Airfare takes off Saturday, Sept. 10, at William J. Fox Airport in Lancaster, Calif.

Sponsored by the Fox Airport Association, the Airfair is a low-key, family-oriented open house with a pancake breakfast and aircraft static display, according to organizers.

Entry and parking are free for the public.

The event kicks off at 8 a.m. with a $5 pancake breakfast, which runs through 10 a.m.

A static display of unique aircraft will be held on the ramp in front of the terminal from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a mix of unique aircraft, including homebuilts, warbirds, classics, antiques, and general aviation training aircraft.

“There are always some surprises at the Airfair, such as the Fire Service aircraft flyby and display of unique helicopters in previous years,” organizers promised.

The Fox Airfair emphasizes the educational and inspirational aspects for the local community.

According to Donna Knighton, the Fox Association president, “we want the community to see their local airport and talk to local pilots about aviation and learning to fly. By seeing aircraft up close and personal and talking to pilots, we are really hoping to inspire young people about aviation, math, and science.”

The Fox Association welcomes fly-in pilots from all local and SoCal airports to come and take part in the static display. As always, the static display parking is free, and historical exemption tax forms will be available to pilots who need them.

“The static display officially opens at 8 a.m., so we encourage display pilots to arrive as early as possible, but no later than 9 a.m.,” says Robert “Stambo” Stambovsky, the Airfair Chairman for the Fox Airport Association.

All airspace and arrival procedures will be normal. The KWJF tower frequency was changed several months ago to 118.525, organizers noted.
