An Alabama pilot bound for Manitowoc veered off a runway during a refueling stop at the Dodge County Airport on Saturday.
While taking off for Manitowoc at about 5 p.m. Saturday, the pilot and lone occupant of a two-seat airplane swerved off the runway and onto an adjacent grassy area. After an evaluation on-scene, medical personnel determined he was not injured. The Dodge County Airport remains open.
The pilot, who was not named in a Dodge County Sheriff's Department release Saturday, had bought this single-engine, fixed-wing Luscombe 8E aircraft on Friday from its prior owner, he told officials on-scene. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
