Boeing B-52H Stratofortress 61-007 is returning to active service after 19 months of overhaul work at Tinker Air Force base, Oklahoma. The aircraft, which has been named ‘Ghost Rider’, had been in external storage at Davis-Monthan Air Force base in Arizona and will join the USAF’s 5th Bomb Wing at Minot AFB, North Dakota.
Ghost Rider is the first B-52H to ever be regenerated from long-term storage with the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group at Davis-Monthan AFB, and returned to fully operational flying status.
