AirBaltic plans to recruit 1,000 employees over the next five years to support the Latvian flag carrier’s growth under its Horizon 2021 business plan.

AirBaltic SVP-human resources Daiga Ergle said Oct. 11 the carrier is scheduled to take delivery of its first Bombardier CS300 aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2016.

“This will create new and better flight connections for the Baltic region, along with opening new job opportunities,” Ergle said. “We are kicking off this recruitment campaign [from Oct. 13] by organizing an open door event for young professionals who want to join the cabin crew team.”

AirBaltic had expected to take delivery of its first CS300, the larger variant of the CSeries for which it is the global launch operator, at the end of October, but delivery is now on track for later in the fourth quarter, Bombardier confirmed to ATW.

AirBaltic currently employs more than 1,100 staff representing nearly 30 nations.

The carrier serves over 60 destinations from its home base in Riga, Latvia; its fleet comprises 12 Boeing 737s and 12 Bombardier Q400NGs.
