BOZEMAN, Montana — The Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF) has added two members to its board of directors.

Jack Tyler of Bozeman and Bill McGlynn of Leavenworth, Washington, will take on roles associated with the RAF’s mission of preserving and creating airstrips for recreational access.

The RAF was organized in 2003, and has grown to nearly 8,000 members across the country. It has multiple projects underway, according to officials.

“Recognizing the growing needs of our organization, both Tyler and McGlynn were tapped for their special experience and success,” RAF president John McKenna said.

McGlynn has 24 years executive experience with Hewlett-Packard, finishing there in 2005 as a Senior Vice President, participating in boosting annual printer sales from $150 million to over $13 billion.

Retirement was short-lived as McGlynn was recruited to run a new Australian color printing startup with breakthrough technology. He retired again in 2013.

McGlynn flies his Cessna 182, frequenting backcountry airstrips.

Tyler, his wife Patricia, and son Devin each got their pilot licenses in the late 1980s. Jack and Patricia enjoyed flying for a decade, then lived on their sailboat for 11 years visiting 53 countries. They sold the boat in Australia, and returned to aviation with a Grumman Tiger.

Jack had served as board member and president for another 501.c organization with geographically diverse membership and was recruited as the RAF Florida Liaison in May 2012. Serving in that capacity, he successfully helped bring several airstrip projects to fruition.

He and Patricia recently resettled in Bozeman.

Both McGlynn and Tyler will join RAF’s board effective immediately, bringing to nine the number of directors. They join McKenna, Tim Clifford of Florida, Peter Bunce of Washington, D.C., Rol Murrow of New Mexico, Steve Johnson of Missouri, Alan Metzler of Pennsylvania, and Mike Perkins of Colorado.
