Russian Helicopters and Wuhan Rand Aviation Technology Service Co. Ltd. signed contracts for Mi-171s, Ka-32s and Ansats at Airshow China this week, the company said. Ordering a total of 18 aircraft, the Chinese company is set to receive delivery of all of them by the end of 2018.
Two Ansats, two Mi-171s and one Ka-32 are specifically outlined in the agreements, with an option for three additional Ka-32s, four additional Mi-171s and six additional Ansats. These agreements mark the first time the two companies have done business together, both hoping for a long-term relationship. Wuhan Rand Aviation Technology Service is the first Chinese customer for the Ansat.
Ka-32s have been active in China for the past several years conducting fire and rescue operations. The Mi-171 is used throughout the country for transportation and evacuation, be it carrying people or cargo. The Ansat will be used for emergency medical services.
