The Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic has signed a contract with Glomex Military Supplies, the exclusive partner on the Czech market of the largest provider of maintenance services in the aerospace industry, the German company Lufthansa Technik AG. The subject of the contract is servicing of military aircrafts Airbus A319-115(CJ). Valid until 31. 12. 2021, the contract has been signed as a result of an open tender, in which Glomex MS submitted a bid that best matches the conditions. If contract proceeds well, it can signal greater projects between the Czech Army and Lufthansa in future.
The contract includes providing complete maintenance of the aircrafts A319-115(CJ) owned by the Czech Air Force. Specifically, the main points are higher levels of maintenance, replacing propulsion systems, supply of spare parts and further works not performed by the user.
For the purposes of this contract, Lufthansa Technic AG is the general subcontractor of the Czech company Glomex MS. Lufthansa operates in the aerospace industry not only as a service provider, but also as a designer and manufacturer, focusing primarily on aircraft interiors. It also played a major role in conversions of the Czech Air Force aircrafts Airbus 319-315(CJ) with fuselage numbers 2801 and 3085, which it is now going to be servicing.
If the maintenance contract proceeds well, it can lead to further cooperation on something bigger. Czech Ministry of Defence has repeatedly expressed the need for extending its fleet of A319. As Lufthansa Technic already showed several times, it can deliver not only aircraft interiors but also whole planes as primary supplier. “Lufthansa Technic definitely has the capability to deliver planes as a complete package. Regarding after-sale services during planes´ life-cycle, it can actually perform better in terms of price and quality than original manufacturers. Czech Ministry of Defence is aware of this capability,” comments CEO of Glomex Jiri Sadilek.
