Just released is the fourth edition of Dennis Newton’s “Severe Weather Flying.”

The new edition is updated with advice on current weather prediction models and technology, along with instruction on how all pilots can use these to their advantage, according to officials with ASA.

Newton offers guidance built on a lifetime of experience and expertise, with detailed descriptions of the types of weather hazardous to flight.

He also examines the capabilities and limitations of airplanes and equipment in weather encounters, the coverage of which has been brought up to the latest standards of research and FAA regulations.

As the subtitle explains — “Increase your knowledge and skill in avoidance of thunderstorms, icing, and severe weather” —  this book is not about flying in severe weather, but how to use the resources to avoid it.
