ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to ensure completion of the much-delayed New Islamabad Airport project within the stipulated timeframe.

A couple of months back, the PM had stated that airport would be functional by August 2017.

According to the official statements, more than 82 per cent of the work on the project has been finalised. The PM chaired a meeting regarding the construction of new Islamabad airport at PM House on Monday.

New Islamabad airport gets another deadline

He was briefed about overall design, link roads and interior designing of the new Islamabad airport. “This must be a state of art airport with our cultural diversity reflected prominently in its interior designing,” the PM said. he new Islamabad airport is among those projects which were prioritised by government in July this year to be completed in next 22 months.

“The capital of our country rightly deserves an airport which matches any modern airport the world over,” Sharif stressed.
