With a pilot onboard, a worker stands on the skids of the Hughes (Now McDonnell Douglas) 369D as the helicopter travels from power line to power line, landing the skids on the towers. Local news outlets caught footage of the routine work being done along the Pennsylvania Turnpike — work that might not look so routine to those passing by. It's all part of a project led by First Energy to modernize the power grid in the growing area. And when the company needed to hang power lines, it brought in High Line Helicopters.

High Line Helicopters provides power line services for a wide range of projects in 48 states. The company trumpets an accident and incident-free resume. It operates a fleet of MD 500 aircraft, with fixed-wing assets for support in remote areas. The MD 500E is the newer version of earlier 500s featuring a T-shaped instrument panel with room for a full avionics suite. The five-bladed helicopter comes with the option to power it with two different Rolls-Royce turbine engines.
