ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The showers and quick downpours moving into our area Tuesday evening are not havin any impact on flights leaving or arriving and we don`t expect there to be any big issues. All things considered this day-before the day-before Thanksgiving has been pretty smooth.

In fact, the crowds have been steady but very manageable here at Lambert so far today.  Ticket lines are not that long and the arrival and departure boards show smooth flying in most spots, but not all.

The big airports in the northeast are showing a number of delays early this evening because of winds, especially in New York city.  While a mix of precipitation is slowing things down in Minneapolis.

Wednesday is a different story.  Both because of volume, but also because of some weather concerns in Chicago and Detroit.

Here at Lambert officials expect to see a solid 8 percent increase in air travel this holiday season, much of that will be felt on the two biggest days, Thursday and Sunday.

The TSA recommends passengers arrive two hours before their departure time this time of year and they also want to remind everyone not to bring wrapped gifts.
